ISABEL THOMPSON SHOOT

So this shoot back in February was my very first attempt at my new black and white portrait series. I had briefly played around with the setup and idea for it a few times, but hadn’t really focused in yet on doing a full set with someone. Luckily for me I was able to shoot with Isabel, who I knew would rock it and set a great tone for the series to come. And needless to say, she didn’t disappoint. In fact, this is the largest set of edits I’ve ever done from a single shoot. For the new series, I wanted to contrast the previous series I had done, which focused heavily on dramatic back lighting, shadows, and posing…. and instead wanted this to be more flat/even lighting, less static posing, and on black instead of white.

After nailing so many great images for the serious, we decided to shoot a few more in the studio on the cyc wall and then adding some gelled lighting for a few.

And after so many serious photos, we decided it was time to cut loose and let Isabel’s real personality shine, which is all smiles and laughter.
